Seven Music Videos featuring Ladders

You may be wondering why the hell ladders are a good category for music videos, I am too actually. It was the big ladder in The Police video that made me think ladders were a thing.

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Otherside" 2000  *I know a lot of high quality individuals who think this song is mega cheesy, I still think its pretty good.

2. The Police - "Don't Stand So Close To Me" 1980  *These guys were wicked cool in 1980.

3. Eddie Money - "Take Me Home Tonight" 1986  *Ladder as saxophone holder.

4. Has-Lo - "Limit" 2011  *This video is hella mask-y. I realize that is an absolutely ridiculous statement, but when I say it out loud I have a look on my face that illustrates my sarcasm.

5. JJ Doom - "Bookhead" 2013  *It's lovely that Doom made a video encouraging people to read more and patronize one's local bookstores.

6. Dirty Dike - "Return Of The Twat" 2013  *It would likely be terrifying to run across these dudes acting all crazy and yelling the word twat. Like a wild animal, he may be best observed from a safe distance.

7. Paula Abdul - "Cold Hearted" 1989  *The best parts of this video are the looks on the faces of the judgy people when the dancing gets too risqué for them.

1. INXS - "Mystify" 1987  *INXS just isn't INXS without Michael Hutchence.

2. Grayskul - "Come On" 2013  (SEATTLE)  *These guys have their rap faces down.

3. Portishead - "Chase The Tear" 2009  *Amazing.

4. Kendrick Lamar - "Cut You Off" 2010  *From this I learned that when Kendrick cut off the negative energy of others, he was able to make Good Kid, Maad City.

5. Queen Latifah, Yo-Yo, TLC, MC Lyte, Nefertiti, Salt-N-Pepa, Patra, and Meshell Ndegeocello - "Freedom" 1995 (Panther Soundtrack)  *Female supercrew jam.

6. The Beatles - "Let It Be" 1969  *Holy shit, this is good.

7. Foals - "Milk and Black Spiders" 2013  *Sometimes I like this, sometimes I just want it to be over.

8. The Police - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" 1981  *This video is 32 years old, crazy.

9. I.N.I. (Pete Rock, Rob-O, I Love H.I.M., Grap Luva) - "Fakin' Jax" Recorded 1995/Released 2003  *I just found this song in the last month and have already overplayed it.

10. Radiohead - "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" 2007  *I am not ashamed by my love for Radiohead.

Ten Music Videos featuring Instrument Close-Ups

*You might find yourself wondering, why the hell would I want to watch ten music videos with instrument close-ups? Really these lists are just a way to put good music in a playlist (of sorts) without having to label them with a genre. It's all just good music, at least I think so.

1. Chromatics - "Cherry" 2012  *Chromatics are good, you should probably listen to them.

2. The Police - "Every Breath You Take" 1983  *I don't think I really appreciated The Police when my mom listened to them when I was a kid. I get it now.

3. Pretty Lights feat. Talib Kweli - "Around The Block" 2013  *I feel like a lot of people might really like this song. I think it's too in your face (or ear), like he wanted to try to create a big sound. I'm not sure what that really means, but, I do know that I'm not that into this song.

4. Gang Starr - "Jazz Thing" 1990  *From the Mo' Better Blues Soundtrack

5. Apollo Brown - "Time Passed Autumn" 2011  *For me this song/video is all about seeing the Phil Collins album in a frame. I prefer his "Tao Te Ching" song. This video is the weakest link of the ten, but, there is tough competition.

6. The Smiths - "This Charming Man" 1983  *The Smiths hang out in a dirty room and Morissey swings something around.

7. Player - "Baby Come Back" 1977  *Smoothed out jams on the classic rock tip.

8. New Order - "The Perfect Kiss" 1985  *It's always good to fit New Order videos in wherever possible. This video also has a cowbell.

9. Common - "Resurrection" 1995  *This is a great album.

10. Moby - "Porcelain" 2000  *There is a close-up of a piano keyboard, but, the video is one long close-up of someone's eye and presumably the stuff that they are seeing.

1. The Beatles - "Hey Jude" 1968  *As one should expect, this is an extremely great song.

2. Dirty Dike - "Ten Dike Commandments" 2013 (UK HIP HOP)  *Dirty Dike oozes personality and seems like I could never party hard enough to hang out with him. This beat is amazing, his delivery is captivating, and the video is hilarious.

3. Klymaxx - "Meeting In The Ladies Room" 1985  *This is one of the best eighties videos I have ever seen. They even have a mermaid.

4. MORE1 - "On A Mission" 2011 (UK HIP HOP) *I love this beat, I kind of wish it was an instrumental.

5. The Police - "Roxanne" 1978  *My parents loved this band, and I can now appreciate their greatness.

6. Illa J feat. Debi Nova - "Sounds Like Love" 2008  *The Yanceys are a talented family (Captain Obvious strikes again).

7. Datkid - "Home By 8" 2012 (UK HIP HOP)  *I've watched this like 6 times and still can't figure out why I might like it. He has a thuggy UK rapper thing going. He isn't my new favorite rapper but I keep watching what he is doing anyway.

8. Slum Village - "Reppin'" 2012  *New era Slum Village, worth a listen.

9. Wham! - "Everything She Wants" 1984  *I think that this and their Christmas song are the best Wham songs.

10. Q-Tip - "Breathe And Stop" 1999  *Q-Tip is awesome.
