2. BADBADNOTGOOD feat. Leland Whitty - "UVM" 2012  It's hard to watch this without pausing for cereal.




3. Intelligent Hoodlum - "The Posse (Shoot Em Up)" 1993  This is the first track on the Posse Soundtrack. I have a VHS tape with Intelligent Hoodlum performing this song Live on BET (and many other early 90's music videos), it's one of my most prized possessions.




4. Seinabo Sey - "Younger" 2014  Swedes have the chillest parties. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing what she does with the buzz she created with this song.




5. ILOVEMAKONNEN - "Tuesday" 2014  This song always makes me think of Stop Biting! Tuesdays at Lo-Fi.




6. Queen Latifah - "Just Another Day" 1993  It must have been quite a neighborhood spectacle when they rolled in the lift for the video shoot. It's an advanced posse shot.

1. The Weeknd feat. Drake - "The Zone" 2012  This video is the inspiration for this category. If this video didn't have so many balloons, I would have put it in the projector list.




2. Nena - "99 Luft Ballons"  1984  Naturally, this video would have to be included.




3. Tom Petty - "Runnin' Down A Dream" 1989  Animated balloons still count. I make the rules here.




4. Phoenix - "Lisztomania" 2009  Sometimes I like these guys and other times I can't believe that I like them. All of their songs sound the same, yet, I only like a few of them. Hmmm.




5. Craig David - "Seven Days" 2000  Craig David tells us about his crazy week of lovin'. It starts when she asks him what time it is. A classic pickup line, but, these days if someone doesn't know what time it is, it likely means that they are too broke to have a phone.




6. Aloe Blacc - "I Need A Dollar" 2010  I sincerely hope that Aloe Blacc is no longer in need of a dollar. These days 23 million + YouTube views and an HBO theme song should equal at least that.




7. Mellowhype - "La Bonita" 2012  This video also has a monkey, a scorpion, and a bird. I love these guys even though I hardly ever listen to them.



8. Salt 'N Pepa - "Twist and Shout" 1988  For some reason, it's hilarious that they covered this song.



9. Vanity 6 - "Drive Me Wild" 1982  Even though this video contains girls in eighties lingerie, it still manages to be kind of boring. The balloon party starts at 3:29.

10. Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg - "Dre Day" 1993  When I see a balloon in a music video, I get all excited. It's the same with chickens, rodents, and tons of other random shit; which you know if you have seen this blog before. This video was from an era when Dr. Dre and Eazy-E were not on good terms (this song came out 2 years before Eazy-E died).

1. Rhye - "Open" 2013  *She's pretty great, I've wanted to share this video for weeks but I couldn't find more confetti videos. I found this via @DJHyphen, thanks.

2. Ethel Cee and Dumhi - "Coke And Yoga" 2012  *Seems like a weird combo, but I love this beat. I couldn't figure out if she was serious until I read this on her video info: (an excerpt)

"I remember hearing descriptions of some of L.A.'s residents. You could meet someone with fake tits, fake lips and a fake ass but they are vegan or on some kind of macrobiotic diet. I found this to be equal parts hilarious and intriguing. 1. Janet Jackson - "The Pleasure Principle" 1986  *At first I was going to put this under Fierce Solo Dancing or Birds or even Dancing With Chairs; the statues won. All hail Queen Janet!

2. Drake - "Marvins Room" 2011  *This is a great late night headphone song, the album version is much longer. Drake's Take Care album made me like him even though he is affiliated with Lil Wayne.

3. Starship - "We Built This City" 1985  *This video has some intense 80s green screen action.

4. Madonna - "Vogue" 1990  *Small cat statues are so vogue. There is (or was) a whole Vogue dance scene in New York that started in New York before Madonna brought it to the mainstream.

5. Johnny Cash - "Hurt" 2002  *This video combines old footage with new Nine Inch Nails-type scenes to pay tribute to the song he is covering. The still life shots in the beginning remind me of the NIN "Closer" video.

6. The Pretenders - "Back On The Chain Gang" 1982  *I think Chrissie Hynde is the supervisor of the chain gang.

7. Sinead O'Connor - "Nothing Compares 2 U" 1990  *Oh come on, you know you liked it.

8. Special Ed - "I Got It Made" 1989  *This video is all about the 1989 dance moves. There is also great use of props from 1:46-1:54.

9. The Moody Blues - "Nights In White Satin" 1967  *A pre-MTV music video, it's all very civilized.

10. Cutta Chase - "Vanish" 2013  *I either love this song or I love that it is a British dude rapping over a good beat, it's hard to say.

Drake

After careful consideration, I decided that Drake's Take Care album is pretty solid.

I love "Marvins Room", the video is aight but the song is best listened to on headphones in its full version.

I'm generally surprised when I like Young Money songs but "Take Care" is a winner too.

There are some other gems on this album but these are the two I have on repeat.
