Ten Music Videos with Bubbles

HERE is a YouTube playlist of all 10 videos with bubbles.

1. TLC - "Hat 2 Da Back" 1992  This song is timeless, the Kris Kross cameo makes it more obviously 1992. RIP Left Eye and Chris Kelly.

2. Tony Cook feat. Dam Funk - "What's On Your Mind?" 2012  I like the bubble that says "This Song Is Bangin!" I should make one for my apartment. This video could have been in the Partially Animated category alongside Jaylib, Paula Abdul, Homeboy Sandman, Gorillaz, and six more.

3. Arctic Monkeys - "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High" 2013  I don't really love this, but I don't hate it. This is the first time I've felt anything for an Arctic Monkeys song.

4. Hopie feat. Moe Green - "String Em Up" 2012  I kinda love this. Hopie appeared on my site before in her video for "Space Case" with Del The Funky Homosapien in the Spacesuit category.

5. Kyla La Grange - "Cut Your Teeth" 2014  *All the black light business kinda cheapens and distracts you from the greatness of the song.

6. Boys Don't Cry - "I Wanna Be A Cowboy" 1986  I think this one gets the Best Use Of A Bubble award.

7. Ibeyi - "River" 2014  *Props to them for having the most difficult to film video concept. The Queens of Underwater Scenes.

8. Hail Mary Mallon - (Aesop Rock + Rob Sonic) - "Jonathan" 2014  This one's all about DJ Zone, the "Card Magician." I couldn't be more stoked for our (ReignCity) Hail Mary Mallon show in Bellingham on January 23 with Homeboy Sandman.

9. Ekkah - "Last Chance To Dance" 2014  Couldn't decide if I hated it or loved it, which just made me listen to it more to figure it out.  I decided I love it. They have a skull disco ball and everything.

10. TLC - "What About Your Friends" 1992  They were big on thought bubbles in the Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip era. I was Left Eye for Halloween this year.

Eight Music Videos featuring Card Games

1. TLC - "Red Light Special" 1994  *The TLC ladies got male models to dance in their underwear while they play cards, because they could.

2. Shaggy - "It Wasn't Me" 2000  *In this song Shaggy dishes out horrible relationship advice to his singer friend.

3. Tony Toni Toné and DJ Quik - "Let's Get Down" 1996  *Raphael Saadiq exposes his secret life as a poker hustler in this video.

4. Quasimoto - "Bus Ride" (Song 2005 / Video 2011)  *This fan-made video surprisingly does not take place on a bus even though it is called "Bus Ride".

5. LL Cool J - "Going Back To Cali" 1989  *Card games with Rick Rubin!

6. Sade - "Your Love Is King" 1984  *Even with visual proof, it is still hard to imagine Sade as a card shark. Then again, I believe Sade can do anything.

7. Slum Village - "Climax (Girl Shit)" 2000  *Dilla and Gary Coleman together, immortalized in music video.

8. Heavy D and the Boyz - "Now That We Found Love" 1991  *There are many colorful raincoats in this video, no rain though.

Ten Music Videos featuring Color-Morphing People

1. Fiona Apple - "Sleep To Dream" 1996  *This beat is amazing.

2. Don't Talk To The Cops! "Laos! Laos! Laos! Laos!" 2012 (SEATTLE)  *This video stars the coolest lady in Seattle. This band puts on an incredible show.

3. Deltron 3030 - "Mastermind" 2000  *This is the song that inspired this category.

4. Das Racist - "Rainbow In The Dark" 2009  *Kool A.D. is naked for a lot of this video, his manhood is covered by a boombox though.

5. Earth, Wind, And Fire - "Let's Groove" 1981  *Contrary to unpopular belief, they are not saying "hecka smooth" in this song.

6. Phil Collins - "In The Air Tonight" 1981  *Phil Collins was cool. If he wasn't, Members Only jackets might not have been remembered so fondly.

7. Madlib - "Falling" from the Dudley Perkins album A Lil' Light (Instrumentals) (2003 Song / 2011 Video)  *This song is rad.

8. Beastie Boys - "So What'cha Want" 1992  *Legendary status.

9. Kool A.D. - "Eroika" 2013  *Kool A.D. takes us on another stony adventure. This video/song mentions Justin Bieber, Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks, Madonna, Al Qaeda, and Garfield. He also puts a bunch of weed in the video girl's mouth.

10. TLC - "Waterfalls" 1994  *This one is kind of a stretch.

90's Girl Groups

The 90's were my highly significant in the development of my musical tastes. I was between the ages of 12 and 22. I don't know where these chicks are now but their beats (or the beats someone made for them) live on.
En Vogue

En Vogue had so many classics but I recently rediscovered this one.
Jade

I don't remember if Jade had any other cool songs but when the beat kicks in at 0:37, it's on.

SWV

The chicks in SWV had some sweet nails, well maybe not sweet, they had crazy nails.
TLC

I still think TLC is cool. I saw them on the 2 Legit Tour with Hammer, Boyz II Men, and Jodeci. I still have my concert t-shirt. It was back when they were all the same size. Check it!
This was one of my favorite TLC songs.
Zhane

Zhane was cool, their two big songs sounded similar but they were both good.
Groove Theory

Groove Theory wasn't all chicks but still worthy.
