1. Oshun - "Stuck" 2014 These two couldn't be more awe-inspiring. If this video doesn't convince you, their Team Backpack performance, their video for "Protect Your Self" and this interview with The Hundreds will help you love them more.

2. Joey Bada$$ - "Christ Conscious" 2014 Seeing Joey Bada$$ perform this song live may get you closer to believing this could be true.

3. DJ Premier feat. Rakim, Nas, + KRS-One - "Classic (Better Than I've Ever Been)" 2007 DJ Premier, Rakim, Nas, and KRS-One will always be classic (definition - serving as a standard of excellence).

4. Run The Jewels - "Lie, Cheat, Steal" 2015 If you are hoping to learn some life lessons from the Run The Jewels team, let it be their ability to sustain long careers in the music industry. Lying, cheating, and stealing to get to where you want to go will not keep you at the top.

5. Pro Era (Capital STEEZ, Joey Bada$$, + CJ Fly) - "Like Water" 2013 I couldn't be more impressed by the rise of the Pro Era crew. Joey Bada$$ first appeared on my website back in 2013 with his timeless classic, "Waves," on a compilation of Music Videos With Rooftop Scenes.

6. Gangrene (Alchemist + Oh No) feat. Action Bronson - "Driving Gloves" 2015 They are incredible musicians but they will fuck your shit up. Simon Rex/Dirt Nasty is the perfect car rental agent.

7. The Internet - "Get Away" 2015 The Ego Death album is on point.

8. Heltah Skeltah Feat. Originoo Gunn Clappaz - "Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka" 1996 This is a Where's Waldo graffiti wall spotting that probably belongs in the Music Videos With White Backgrounds list. But I will put Heltah Skeltah on ANY list just because.

9. Aesop Rock - "Freeze" 2003 Soon, underground clinics like this may be our only affordable source of health care; Aesop Rock is the oracle?

10. Selector Dub Narcotic - "Hotter Than Hott" 2016 This K Records gem premiered on Pitchfork. The video reminds me of LCD Soundsystem, Thom Yorke dancing in "Lotus Flower," and Christopher Walken dancing in the Fatboy Slim video.

11. Mad Lion - "Take It Easy" 1994 I'm waiting patiently for the next Mad Lion feature...

12. Kazi + Madlib - "To Be Lost" 2016 According to this 2DopeBoyz article, this song/album (Blackmarket Seminar) was recorded back in 1996 and recently re-released via Below System Records (Netherlands).

13. Metasota - "All Luv" 2016 I was blessed to see Metasota at The Crocodile recently when he opened up for Prof on the TimeBomb tour. He's headlining his own tour this June...

Outer Spacecruise AKA Ten More Outer Space Videos

1. Sun Ra - "Space Is The Place" 1974 Sun Ra is pretty much the King of Outer Space videos and one of the most interesting people to bless this planet with their existence. 2. Lady Moon + The Eclipse - "Roller Coaster" 2016 I am 90% on board with this song because the song's most roller coaster-like moments stress me out. That said, I've taken the space video bait and have started diving into Lady Moon + The Eclipse's catalog to see what they're all about. @lmelove

3. Alabama Shakes - "Sound + Color" 2015 Is this a metaphor for being trapped in your own mind or a just a take on some epic space movies? #DeepThoughts Whatever it is intended to be, I love it. @Alabama_Shakes

4. L'Orange + Kool Keith - "The Green Ray" 2015 I'm loving all things L'Orange these days but have yet to see him live. His current label, Mello Music Group was recently dubbed The Most Successful New Indie Rap Label Of This Decade by Forbes magazine. That's a damn good look for this Rise Of The Underground thing we have going. @LOrangeMusic @Ultraman7000

When I saw Kool Keith at Neumos in 2014, he had a disappointing sad crew of cell phone checking squad on stage left (not pictured). He's got enough presence to be alone up there, time to leave the squad in the green rooms Keith. I took this shitty photo at the show which I included in my short lived Rap Hands (blurry hands) Instagram collection.

5. DJ Shadow - "The Mountain Will Fall" 2016 I'm so glad that DJ Shadow is evolving with his music because it's keeping him passionate about his craft. "Nobody Speak," the track from his new album featuring Run The Jewels is most definitely the cut. They recently shared how the collaboration came about with the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, here's the link. @djshadow

This October 3, The Mountain Will Fall Tour will be coming through The Showbox in Seattle, WA. One of my current jobs in the music industry happens to be Hospitality Coordinator at The Showbox and Showbox SoDo so 10/3/16 will be a pretty great day for me as I've been a fan since the Endtroducing tour brought him to La Luna in Portland as support of Jeru The Damaja in 1997.

6. Batida - "Céu" feat. Frànçois + The Atlas Mountains 2016 "Angolan-Portuguese producer Batida aka Pedro Coquenão has been a busy man lately, releasing an album with Konono N°1 and fighting for social justice and the freedom of 16 detained young activists in Angola." - Okay Africa

7. The Internet feat. Kaytranada - "Girl" 2015 The Ego Death album made hearts flutter upon its release and stands firm as one of the best albums of 2015. I can still remember the eyes lit up with joy response I got from a few other music nerds when I asked them if they heard it yet. @intanetz

8. Michael Jackson + Janet Jackson - "Scream" 1995 In an era when some were using helicopters and yachts to show off their baller status, the Jacksons took it to the next level and went universal. The $7 million video remains to be totally wicked. @JanetJackson

9. Shabazz Palaces - "Motion Sickness" 2014 (SEATTLE MUSIC) While the members of Shabazz Palaces do reside in Seattle, their music has transcended the boundaries of our city and have created their own Black Constellation. I love that they opened for Radiohead in LA, someone is very smart. @shabazzpalaces

10. Slick Devious feat. Janet Earth - "Hollow Planets" 2016 (PORTLAND MUSIC) The color of the fake barf(?) is what makes it for me. Slick Devious came up to Seattle last February with Grape God, we should probably have him back soon. Check out his multiple mediums of visual art here. @SlickDevious

1. Aesop Rock - "Homemade Mummy" 2012 *I really don't like this song that much, however, I love this video because you can see Aesop Rock smiling.

2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Soul To Squeeze" 1993 *From the Coneheads soundtrack. This is one of my favorite RHCP songs because I was never into their earlier funky punky stuff.

3. Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam - "Lost In Emotion" 1987 *Full-on eighties carnival action.

4. Gang Starr feat. Nice and Smooth - "Dwyck" 1994 *Atlantic City is not a carnival, but, there is a ferris wheel.

5. Huey Lewis and the News - "If This Is It" 1984 *I wonder if "The News" resented Huey because he didn't have to get buried in the sand.

6. Bruce Springsteen - "Tunnel Of Love" 1987 *He rhymes blouse with farmhouse. It totally works.

7. The Internet - "Cocaine" 2011 *I love that she is making music but cocaine is an ugly drug.

8. Stones Throw Singers feat. Peanut Butter Wolf - "Rain Of Earth" 2006 *I deeply appreciate Peanut Butter Wolf for his many talents and contributions. Singing is not one of the talents I am referring to.
