1. Neka + Kahlo - "Mayweather" 2015  Two of Portland's most interesting people (up there with Grape God of course). I booked them at  The Crocodile Back Bar on Sunday, July 26 for a show with Astro King Phoenix, Wes Guy, and Fountaine. It was amazing.

So many great events last night in Seattle. We had Neka & Kahlo, Astro King Phoenix, Fountaine, & Wes Guy in the Back Bar; it was dope!

2. Dam Funk - "We Continue" 2015  STONES THROW I would love to go on a spacecruise with these dudes. Dam Funk coming through with another great message.





3. Oddisee - "Belong To The World" 2015  My team at ReignCity is bringing Oddisee and The Good Compny Band to The Crocodile on November 7. He is a cool ass dude.




4. Akua Naru - "The World Is Listening" (prod. by JR + Ph7) 2010  This reminds me of the Canary Sing video for "Freak Show" in the best way. These are some down ass chicks.




5. J'Von + Ackryte - "Tasia" 2013  J'Von is one of my favorite producers and also one of my favorite artists to work with. For a good time, follow his Soundcloud.

6. Nu Era - "Cops" 2014  Andrew Savoie of Nu Era and myself host a monthly Local Hip Hop Showcase at The Crocodile Back Bar called Home Slice. Come through, the pizza is bomb and the people are even better.




7. Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - "Get Lucky" 2013  These are some relevant mother-f***ers. This song made the world happy, what could be better than that?




8. Jaden Smith - "Scarface" 2015 Not that he needs it, but, I wholeheartedly cosign Jaden Smith. He's an intelligent 17 year old actor, musician, and fashion designer #props. I hope to see him at The Crocodile someday soon.




9. SBTRKT feat. Ezra Koenig - "New Dorp, New York" 2014  Haven't seen SBTRKT live yet, that day will be awesome. His self titled album released on Young Turks is a classic.




10. The Good Sin feat. Alisha Roney - "Eye 2 Eye" 2012 (Produced by Justo) (SEATTLE MUSIC)  Breaking stuff in reverse and road trips are totally awesome, they obviously know what's up.

Daft Punk and Dracula

I love the Daft Punk song "Touch"

but, every time I listen to it I think of Jason Segel singing his Dracula Musical song from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

This is one of those albums that actually lives up to the hype. There is a ton of supplemental videos and info about the album on Daft Punk's website if that's what you're into. The music itself is excellent. I actually listened to the whole album 6 times just to make sure. Every time "Instant Crush" comes on, I found myself looking to see the name of the track because it surprised me how great it was. I hadn't bothered to listen to any Daft Punk albums for at least a decade, but, when certain people say an album is good, I listen.

I have a feeling my favorite song from the album will change later, for now "Instant Crush".

1. A Tribe Called Quest - "Electric Relaxation" 1994  *It's crazy that they edited out the word "ass" as in "fat ass thighs". It is a hip hop staple.

2. Depeche Mode - "It's No Good" 1997  *It would be awesome to see Depeche Mode in a club this small.

3. Yuna - "Live Your Life" 2012  *This isn't a club banger or anything like that. It's just a pretty good song with a good message.

4. Daft Punk - "Something About Us" 2003  *My favorite part of this song is before the singing starts.

5. Redman - "I'll Bee Dat" 1998  *Redman is hilarious.

6. Bahamadia - "True Honey Buns" 1996  *She's cool.

7. The Go-Go's - "Vacation" 1982  *I could never hate on The Go-Go's.

8. The Notorious B.I.G. - "One More Chance" 1995  *"Girls peepee when they see me" -Biggie  That seems like an uncomfortable situation to me, but, it is a quadruple rhyme so that's probably why he said it.

9. Jean Grae - "Love Thirst" 2008  *This song doesn't really do it for me, but, I think she is bad ass. She wears many different outfits in the back of a taxi in this video.

10. Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five - "The Message" 1982  *A prime example of the infinite potential of Hip Hop.

Ten Music Videos With Space Suits Or Haz-Mat Suits

1. Lootpack - "Whenimondamic" 1999  Madlib, Wildchild, and DJ Romes are/were the members of Lootpack. I love that they are wearing space suits in a desert that looks like Joshua Tree. This album is awesome.

2. Dark Time Sunshine - "Sleestack Payback and All Aboard" 2010  This is the video that made me want to start this category. Zavala and Onry make a great team.




3. Daft Punk - "Around The World" 1997  Of course Daft Punk has to be on this list. I haven't liked much of their music since their first album Homework but millions of others have.




4. The Postal Service - "Such Great Heights" 2003  I first heard this song in a snowboard movie called Lame. I don't like much other Postal Service music but this song is great.




5. Common feat. Lily Allen - "Drivin' Me Wild" 2007  Common pairs nicely with almost any female artist. Lily Allen is cool.




6. Eric B and Rakim - "I Know You Got Soul" 1987  This song samples the Jackson 5 (among others) and the video uses a bunch of old footage including real astronauts in space suits.




7. Jin - "Shoot For The Moon" 2011  I really dislike this song but I shoot for the moon myself so I can relate to this dude. Jin's song "Top 5 Dead Or Alive" is my shit though; it's on a list of videos filmed in record stores.




8. Salt 'N Pepa - "Ain't Nuthin' But A She Thing" 1995  These ladies are definitely cool.



9. Hopie feat. Del The Funky Homosapien - "Space Case" 2011  This video is definitely worth watching, if only to see Del working with a female artist. The video also contains pajamas and floating stuff.




10. Strange U - "Klaatu Barada Nikto" 2013  (UK HIP HOP)  This is the alter ego/next level of Kashmere the Iguana Man, who I found by listening to other UK Hip Hop on Spotify. I still like "Permission To Board" (click on Kashmere the Iguana Man on right side) more but it is cool that he is progressing and changing his style, because why not. That reminds me of a facebook quote about how life is like riding a bicycle; if you're not moving forward you fall over.
