Four More Mask Music Videos

3. Kate Bush - "Running Up That Hill" 1985  *I just heard this son for the first time recently, this is some ridiculously dramatic music. The video is so dated and modern dance-y that it makes you believe that Kate Bush may be the queen of 80's chick music.

Kate Bush's iconic status makes her relevant even today, the Chromatics cover of "Running Up That Hill" can be used as evidence of this.

4. AlunaGeorge - "Best Be Believing" 2013  *These people are in dance rehab, that's some Footloose shit.

ILLFIGHTYOU part II

ILLFIGHTYOU has surpassed mere coolness for me. I now declare them to be amazing. Their skill is in the way their voices complement the music. They could be saying anything and I wouldn't care because they are saying it so well. Here is a video of them in the studio.

I had been overplaying "Batcave" but have moved on to "'92" and "Midnight".

ILLFIGHTYOU and Jarv Dee are opening up for Snoop Dogg (AKA Snoop Lion) on August 29 at Showbox Sodo. You should probably be there to see this great moment for ILLFIGHTYOU. More information about the show can be found on the Reign City Calendar.

In case you haven't heard their album, they give it away for free download on their website.

Five Music Videos featuring Douchebags

1. Kavinsky - "Odd Look" 2013  *Guys who hold waitresses (or anyone) at knifepoint are definitely douchebags, good thing Kavinsky was there to play Captain Save-A-Ho and then kidnap her himself.

2. Michael Jackson - "The Way You Make Me Feel" 1987  *I don't think Michael Jackson was a douchebag, I think that he was acting like one in this video. This is not the right way to pick up chicks. Unbelievably, guys still run ladies off the sidewalk as a means of getting their attention. This is an awesome music video though, lots of funny adlibs and sound effects at the end.

3. Gogol Bordello - "American Wedding" 2013  *Most likely, this Gogol Bordello dude is not a douchebag, but, is playing one on tv. The lead singer was so great in Everything Is Illuminated, see:

Here he is acting like a douchebag in "American Wedding".

4. Defenders Of Style - "419" 2012 (UK Hip Hop)  *I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like this if the beat wasn't so good. There is a bunch of kidnappings in this video, kidnapping equals douchebag.

5. Gang Starr - "Code Of The Streets" 1994  *Cab drivers who won't go to Brooklyn are douchebags for sure.

Eight More Music Videos featuring Animals

1. Telemachus feat. Jehst - "The Sheltering Sky" 2012  *I just discovered this song via the Pigeons and Planes website. Jehst can be found all over my blog and on the YNR Productions roster next to other interesting British artists.

2. Sleep Party People - "Heaven Is Above Us" (Song 2012/Video 2013)  *In this video, you will get to see a rabbit coming out of a belly button. The song itself isn't too exciting, which can be a great thing.

3. Apparat - "Arcadia" 2007  *This sounds all Thom Yorke-y.

4. Black Sheep - "Flavor Of The Month" 1991  *This video is amazing. I love that they are wearing snazzy suits while shepherding their flock of sheep and dancing girls.

3. Mount Kimbie - "Before I Move Off" 2010  *This is one of the songs that made me love this band.

4. Native Guns - "Champion" 2006  *My favorite part of this video is that they have Harry Potter-like newspapers!

5. J-Live feat. Boog Brown - "The Way That I Rhyme" 2010  *This is a solid track but not great enough to be the new hotness.

6. King Britt - "Chasing Rainbows" 2013  *Definitely a unique music video, "Chasing Rainbows" is from King Britt's new project Fhloston Paradigm.

7. J. Pinder's "Loaded Gun" 2013 (Seattle Music)  *The song is produced by Vitamin D and the video is directed by Bean One. I think it's wonderful.

9. Chromatics - "Looking For Love" 2013  *The video was made when the Chromatics played for a Chanel fashion show.

This song is from the After Dark 2 compilation from the Italians Do It Better label.

10. Telemachus - "Ferndale Road" 2011  (UK Hip Hop)  *Mostly instrumental Hip Hop from the UK found by way of the Pigeons and Planes post called UK Hip Hop Songs You Probably Don't Know (But Should).

Mount Kimbie and Gummo

The guy in the Mount Kimbie video for "Would Know" looks like a mix of two different characters from Gummo (it was the ears that did it) and Grieves.

2. Ice-T - "I'm Your Pusher" 1988  *I haven't listened to much Ice-T and I was surprised how great this song is. I love that he turned the well-known sample into an anti-drug message. Ice-T was well aware that his music could be used as a tool for social change.

3. Tricky - "Nothing's Changed" 2013  *Not the official music video, still great.

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Daft Punk and Dracula

I love the Daft Punk song "Touch"

but, every time I listen to it I think of Jason Segel singing his Dracula Musical song from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Rhye

Another great song and video from Rhye.

Rhye - "3 Days" 2013

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Quadron - "Hey Love" 2013

Friday, August 9, 2013

Glass Candy

Glass Candy - "Redheads Feel More Pain" 2013  *In this video, a woman of leisure wears inappropriate footwear on some rocks in Ibiza. The song is pretty great too.

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Shad...He's Cool

Shad is one of those rappers that I actually want to listen to. His voice adds to the song and he makes good friendly rap faces. This video for "Stylin" is no frills but still manages to be interesting.

No Diggity Served Three Ways

These songs have all appeared on other posts, but, they deserve to be together.

1. Blackstreet - "No Diggity" 1996  *Teddy Riley genius.

2. Chet Faker - "No Diggity" 2013  *This guy looks like so many other guys, he's the only one who sings "No Diggity" though.
